Your are expected to be in your seat with all materials when the tardy bell rings. Attendance is taken daily and subject to the same rules and consequences put forth by the Bowie High School Administrative Staff.
You will be given a pencil, a black 3-ring binder, music, and a binder slot to place your materials in. It is your responsibility to keep or replace these items if they are lost or stolen. You are encouraged to bring water in a clear and non-spillable container.
Remember: YOU are important! When you are not here, the ensemble suffers. Make every effort to be in class, on time, and ready to sing with passion.
Concerts are a required element of any performing organization. You are expected to be at each concert, in proper attire, and ready to sing, at the time set forth by your directors. Not sure which concerts are required for you? Check the Calendar page here. Attendance is taken and missing a performance does have a major effect on your six weeks and semester grade. Important: transportation issues, job issues, and sibling babysitting issues are NOT considered excused absences from concerts. The calendar is in place now. Mark your calendars and make arrangements NOW.
Extra Rehearsals Chorale and Volunteer Voices will have regularly scheduled after school rehearsals throughout the school year. These are required and your continued involvement in Chorale and/or Volunteer Voices will be dependent upon your attendance.
Other choirs will have scheduled rehearsals from time to time, usually nearing a concert. You will be notified at least one week in advance, in order to make travel or work arrangements. If you are involved in a club, sport, or other activity that meets regularly after school, it is your responsibility to speak to that sponsor EARLY to work out a compromise.
